About Me
I am an Edinburgh based counsellor, currently working online only, available for clients across the UK. I’m trained in working with an integrative approach with couples and individuals.
I have always been interested in people, their emotions, experiences, and how people relate to each other. I have been learning to work with my own experiences, through therapy, therapeutic learning and taking steps every day to show up for myself, explore, understand and regulate my emotions.
I have been through my own personal experiences having been adopted, growing up undiagnosed neuro diverse (I’m still waiting for that diagnosis!), struggling with health issues from chronic pain to CFS/ME, relational trauma, struggles with CPTSD and more. There has been a lot to work through, the work I’ve done has supported me to feel safer in my emotions, even the big, overwhelming ones. I truly understand the feeling of wanting the pain and distress to go away, I also understand it takes time, and consistently showing up for yourself differently, to change how you feel.
My passion is working with a trauma informed approach. I am passionate about bringing to my clients the tools and techniques that have supported my healing and self-connection the most. I continue to learn more ways of supporting myself and my clients.
The approaches I focus on most are self-compassion work, felt sense meditation and emotional connection, EFT tapping, nervous system regulation, inner child work, and I’m currently learning more about parts of self. As well as creating a safe space for my clients to share and explore their emotions.
I use these techniques in couple work to help clients to regulate and understand their emotions together, to foster more vulnerable connection. I use Emotion Focused Communication and tools from The Gottman Institute, the longest running relationship research institute, to support couples to stabilise their dynamic, foster deeper connection and help their relationship thrive
For some people these changes can come quickly once they know what to do, for others it can take years, small steps at a time, to feel like you’re getting somewhere, and then you look back and realise things have actually changed inside. I’m here to take your journey with you at your pace.
